Malta - Tunis - Marseille
My Maltese paternal family has kept many photos from the time when they had to immigrate to Tunisia. For me, this is a sign that they wanted to preserve the memory, to pass it on.
The massive migration from Malta to Tunisia, when considering the scale of this small country, is forgotten. However, I put this at the core of the story, through archival documents, family and contemporary photographs, and texts.
More than a century ago, it was the Maltese who fled poverty to reach Tunisia, a land that promised a better future, while today the tables have turned, and the crossing is now in the opposite direction...

A selection of the photographs presented in this book was awarded the 10th international prize for Contemporary African Photography - CAP Prize 2021 and the Maghreb Photography Award in 2023.

Limited edition of 30 books with the book included 3 prints on Hahnemühle Fine Art Baryta paper in which 2 old photos are reworked with tea and a contemporary photograph composing a triptych of the cover.
